Radio Nest
How Radio Nest works
Radio Nest turns public radio-directory records into a location-first listening experience.
1. Stations are collected
Public station metadata is imported and checked periodically. Only station families with usable coordinates and at least one supported, healthy stream can appear on the map.
2. Duplicates are grouped
Records that safely represent the same station are grouped into a canonical family. The globe displays the parent record once while playback can use a healthy stream from its family.
3. Locations are resolved
A station’s supplied coordinates are retained when reliable. Location names used for browsing are derived separately, so geographic display data does not silently replace the station directory’s original metadata.
4. Playback falls back quietly
The web player tries supported HTTPS streams in the station family. When only HTTP streams are available, Radio Nest offers a separate HTTP player because secure web pages cannot directly play mixed-content audio.
